External grooving on rotary indexing machines: Planar slide heads available in single-slide and double-slide versions!
In large-scale production with precision parts as continuous runners, rotary indexing machines often offer significantly higher cost-effectiveness compared to single-spindle or multi-spindle automatic lathes.
The technical feature of rotary indexing machines, which work with a fixed part and a rotating tool, requires special external grooving tools such as the Schwanog PWP system and WEP system. In order to make optimum use of all manufacturing options, Schwanog offers interchangeable holders for flat slide heads in single and double slide versions.
Single-slider version:
With the single-slider head, the tool holder can be moved outwards and inwards. The profile plates can be used one after the other. Only one cutting carrier is moved radially.
Double-slider version:
In contrast to the single-slider system, the double-slider head has two opposing sliders that can be used for cutting distribution. For wider cuts, the double-slider head has more balanced cutting forces and therefore offers smoother running.
