External grooving on rotary transfer machines: Recessing heads available in single-slide and double-slide versions!
In high volume production with precision parts in continuous operations, rotary transfer machines often offer significantly higher cost-effectiveness compared to single-spindle or multi-spindle automatic lathes.
The technical feature of rotary transfer machines, which work with a static (non-rotating) part and a rotating tool, require special external grooving tools such as the Schwanog PWP system and WEP system. To make optimum use of all manufacturing options, Schwanog offers tool holders for recessing heads in single and double slide versions.
Single-slide version:
With the single-slide head, the tool holder can be moved outwards and inwards. The form tools can be used one after the other. Only one cutting tool is moved radially.
Double-slide version:
In contrast to the single-slide system, the double-slide head has two opposing slides that can be used for cutting distribution. For wider cuts, the double-slide head has more balanced cutting forces and therefore offers smoother running.
